Let Price without tax=x

Cost of Sweater including tax=$54

Tax%=4.5%

Tax=45X/1000=0.045x

A.T.Q

x+0.045x=54

1000x+45x/1000=54

1045x=54000

x=54000/1045

x=$51.67

Answer:

54 ÷ 1.045 = 51.67

let's reverse check to confirm:

51.67 + 4.5% = 53.99 (which is 54)

so yes that's the correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

where did I get that 1.045 ? always remember when tax is included in a certain amount , and we have to extract it, we need to put a 1. and after the one point we put the given tax number.

eg, if it was 10% I would have divided 54 by 1.10.

if it was 18% then I would have divided the tax inclusive number by 1.18.

in this case it was 4.5% which is 4.5/100 = 0.045 which means I would put it like 1.045.

hope my answer was helpful! I wish you all the best!
