SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • The cost of an article A is 10 % more than the cost of article B

  • The total cost is Rs. 441

TO DETERMINE

The cost of article A and B

EVALUATION

Let cost of article B is 100x

Since the cost of an article A is 10% more than the cost of article B

So cost of article A

= Rs. ( 100x + 10x )

= Rs. 110x

Now by the given condition

100x + 110x = 441

⇒ 210x = 441

⇒ 10x = 21

Thus we have ,

The cost of article A

= Rs. 110x

= Rs. ( 11 × 10x )

= Rs. ( 11 × 21 )

= Rs. 231

The cost of article B

= Rs. 100x

= Rs. ( 10 × 10x )

= Rs. ( 10 × 21 )

= Rs. 210

FINAL ANSWER

  • The cost of article A = Rs. 231

  • The cost of article B = Rs. 210
