To find percentage increase, we say difference ÷ original ×100

So in this case, difference is 495 - 450 =₹ 45

So percent increase = 45 ÷ 450 × 100

                       = 10 % Increase

Question:

The cost of an article has increased from ₹ 450 to ₹ 495. What is the increase per cent?

Answer:

The increase rate is 10%.

Given:

The old price of the article = ₹ 450

The new price of the article is = ₹ 495

To find:

The increased rate of price.

Explanation:

The old price of the article = ₹ 450

The new price of the article is = ₹ 495

∴ Increased amount = ₹(495-450)

                                  = ₹ 45

∴ Increased %_

(Increased amount / Old price) × 100

= (45/450)×100

= (45×100/450)

= (100/10) [∵ Dividing 45 and 450 by 45.]

= 10 [ ∵ Dividing 100 and 10 by 10.]

= 10%.

∴ The increased rate of the cost of the article is 10%.
