Perimeter of the field = Total cost of fencing / coat of fencing per m =

3200 \div 40 = 80m

we \: know \: that \: \\ perimeter \: of \: the \: field = 2(l + b) \\ 80 = 2(24 + b) \\ 80 = 48 + 2b \\ 80 - 48 = 2b \\ 32 = 2b \\ therefore \\ b = 32 \div 2 = 16m
