Fixed cost is Rs. 4000 and cost per invite is Rs. 100

Given,

Total invitees in the party = 40

The average cost works out to Rs. 200 per head

another side, If there are 50invitees

the cost works out of Rs. 180 per head

Find,

Find the variable cost and thefixed cost for conducting the party.

Solution,

According to the question, The cost of organizing a party varies directly as the number of invitees

Let assume that, fixed cost is X and cost per invite is Y.

Total invitees in the party = 40 and, the average cost works out to Rs. 200 per head

then, X+ 40Y= 200*40

or, X+40Y= 8000 ...................(i)

another side, If there are 50invitees and the cost works out of Rs. 180 per head

similarly we can say that,

X+50Y=180*50

or, X+50Y= 9000 ...................(ii)

Now, from the equation (i) and (ii) we say that,

10Y= 1000

or, Y= 100

and if Y= 100 then

X= X+ 50*100= 9000

or, X= 9000-5000= 4000

Hence, fixed cost is Rs. 4000 and cost per invite is Rs. 100
