First divide the total cost by the rate of painting that is, 179.40/0.8. The answer you get is the area. Then divide the area by the height and multiply the answer with 2 to get the base.

Area = 179.40÷0.80 = 224.25
Area = 1/2 × b × H
224.25 = 1/2 × b × 24.5
18.30 = b
