Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN

cost of pen=16\frac{3}{5}

cost of pencil=4\frac{3}{4}

R.T.F

which is more expensive pen or pencil and by how much

SOLUTION

cost of pen=16\frac{3}{5}= 83/5

cost of pencil=4\frac{3}{4}= 19/4

we know that the L.C.M of 5 and 4 is 20

which becomes 83*4/5*4 and 19*5/4*5

=>332/20 and 95/20

now we can compare the numerators

since 332>95 ,the cost of pen is greater than the cost of pencil

the difference is 332-95/20= 237/20.

thus the cost of pen is greater by ₹237/20
