The cost of petrol in a city is rupees 70 per litre. Find the linear equations in two variables where y represent number of litres of petrol consumed and rupees X is total cost .

Let y be no. of litres petrol consumed
Let x be The total cost
Cost of petrol = 70 Rs. per litre

∴ The equation will be

Total Cost = No. of litres petrol consumed  X   70

In two variable form

⇒     X = y*70
      
        X = 70y
