Concept Introduction: A mole of a compound is calculated by calculating it's Molecular Weight.

Given:

We have been Given: Salt is Rs. 2 per kg and Sugar is Rs. 6 per kg

To Find:

We have to Find: Their costs per mole.

Solution:

According to the problem,

Salt:

One mole of NaCl is

23 + 35.5 = 58.5 \: g

therefore, cost of

1g = \frac{2}{1000}

therefore, Cost of 58.5g will be,

 \frac{2 \times 58.5}{1000}  =  \frac{117}{1000}  = 0.117

Sugar:

One mole of C12H22O11 is

(12 \times 12) + (1 \times 22) + (16 \times 11) = 144 + 22 + 176 = 342g

therefore cost of,

1g =  \frac{6}{1000}

therefore, cost of 342g will be,

 \frac{6 \times 342}{1000}  =  \frac{2052}{1000}  = 2.052

Final Answer: The cost of Salt per mole is

rs \: 0.117

and The cost of Sugar per mole is

rs \: 2.052
