Answer:

\huge\mathfrak\purple{Solution..}

Let the cost of a pen as 'X'

Let the cost of a pencil as 'Y'.

First equation is:

3X+5Y=78

or, 3X=78-5Y............(i)

Then 2nd equation is:

3X =3Y+6

or, 78-5Y = 3Y+6

or, -5Y-3Y =6-78

or, -8Y =-72

or, Y =-72/-8

So, Y = 9

So,the cost of a pencil is: 9

rupees.

Then by substituting the value of Y into the (i) equation we get,

3X =78-5×9

or, 3X =78-45

or, 3X= 33

or, X =33/3

So, X =11.

So,the cost of a pen is: 11

rupees.

Answer: Cost of a pen =11

rupees

Cost of a pencil = 9 rupees.
