The given situation, the cost of two Pizzas and one burger is Rs. 450, algebraically represented as 2x + y = 450, and the graph is in the attachment below.

Given :

The cost of two Pizzas and one burger is Rs. 450.

To find:

Represent the given situation algebraically and also draw the graph.

Concept used :

Method to draw the graph of linear equation in two variables:

1. Put the arbitrary value of x in the given equation and find the corresponding values of y.

2. Form a table by writing the values of y to the corresponding values of x.

3. Draw the coordinates axes on graph paper and take a suitable scale to plot points from the table.

4. Join the points, and we get a straight line and produce it on both sides.

Hence, the straight line so obtained is the required graph of the given linear equation.

  • It is enough to plot two points corresponding to two solutions and join them by a line.

Solution :

Step 1: Let the cost of Pizza and burger be ₹ x and ₹ y.

According to question:

2x + y = 450 ......(1)

Step 2 : Find two solutions for the given equation:

To represent a given situation graphically, we must find at least two solutions .

2x + y = 450

On putting y = 0

2x + 0 = 450

2x = 450

x = 450/2

x = 225

Hence the coordinate is (225, 0) when y = 0

Now, on putting x = 0

2(0) + y = 450

0  + y = 450

y = 450

Hence the coordinate is (0, 450) when x = 0

Here, we plot these points A (225, 0) & B (0, 450) on the graph paper and join A and B to form a line AB.
