Question

The cost price of 12 fans is equal to the selling price of 16 fans . Find gain or loss percent ?

Solution

Given :-

  • The cost price of 12 fans is equal to the selling price of 16 fans

Find :-

  • gain or loss in percent of fan

Explanation

Let,

  • Cost price of 12 fans = x

Then,

==> cost price of 1 fans will be = x/12

  • Selling price of 16 fans = x

Then,

==> Selling price of 1 fans = x/16

Using Formula

Lose = Selling price (S.P.) - Cost price (C.P.)

Lose % = Lose × 100/C.P.

Then,

==> Lose = x/12 - x/16

==> Lose = (4-3)x/48

==> Lose = x/48

==>Lose = x/48

Now, Lose in %

==> Lose % = Lose × 100/C.P.

==>Lose % = x/48 × 100/(x/12)

==>Lose % = x/48 × 100 × 12/x

==> Lose % = 1/4 × 100

==>Lose % = 25%

Hence

  • Lose % of fans will be = 25%
