The cost of shirt is Rs. 350 and the cost of jeans is Rs.500

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cost price of shirt = x

Let the cost price of jeans =y

Now according to question

The cost price of 2 shirts and 3 jeans is Rs. 2200

Therefore we have

2x+3y=2200-------(i)

similarly

The cost price of 2 jeans and 4 shirts is Rs. 2400

Therefore we have

2y+4x=2400\\\\\Rightarrow y+2x=1200 \\\\\Rightarrow 2x= 1200-y

Substitute the value of 2x in (i)

1200-y+3y=2200\\\\\Rightarrow 2y= 2400-1200= 1000\\\\\Rightarrow y= 500

Now substitute the value of y in (i) we get

2x+3y=2200\\\\\Rightarrow 2x+3\times 500= 2200\\\\\Rightarrow 2x+1500=2200\\\\\Rightarrow 2x= 2200-1500 \\\\\Rightarrow 2x= 750 \\\\\Rightarrow x= 350

Hence, the cost of shirt is Rs. 350 and the cost of jeans is Rs. 500
