Hi ,

i )Let the cost price of the trousers = x ------------( 1 )

ii ) cost price of the shirt = 12% more than cost price

if the trousers

= x ( 100 + 12) /100

= x × 112 /100

= (112x / 100 )-------( 2 )

According to the problem,

Cost price of the shirt + cost prise of pair of trousers = 371

x + ( 112 x /100 ) = 371

( 100x + 112x ) /100 = 371

212x = 371 × 100

x = ( 7× 53 × 4 × 25 )/ ( 4 × 53 )

After cancellation,

x = 7 × 25

x = 175

Therefore ,

Cost price of the trousers = x = 175

I hope this helps you.

Answer: 175

Step by step explanation:

Cost of shirt and Trouser = 371

Trouser costs 12% more than shirt.

Trouser price = 12 × 100 = 112

Total Price = 112+100 = 212

212 = 371

100 = 371×100/12

=> 375

Therefore, cost of Trouser is 375

By another method

Let the cost price of the trousers = x

Cost price of the shirt = 12% more than cost price

= x ( 100 + 12) /100

= x × 112 /100

= (112x / 100 )

According to the question,

Cost price of the shirt + cost prise of pair of trousers = 371 ▪️

x + ( 112 x /100 ) = 371

( 100x + 112x ) /100 = 371

212x = 371 × 100

x = ( 7× 53 × 4 × 25 )/ ( 4 × 53 )

x = 7 × 25

x = 175

Therefore, Cost price of the trousers is 175
