Given that S + T = 371    .......(1)
Shirt cost is 12% more than Trouser.
If Trouser price is 100, then shirt price is 112
Therefore, let trouser price = 'x' then shirt price = 1.12*x
from equation-1 :   x + 1.12*x = 371
                                2.12*x = 371   ;  x = 175
Trouser Price = 175, Shirt Price = 196

Answer:

The cost price of the trouser is 175 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cost of a shirt be CS

Let the cost of a pair of trousers be CT

Given that the cost price of a shirt and trousers is 371

Therefore CS + CT = 371

If the cost of a shirt is 12% more than the cost of trouser then cost of shirt becomes

CS = 12%(CT) + CT

CS = 0.12 CT +CT

CS = 1.12 CT

put CS = 1.12 CT in the first equation , we get

1.12 CT + CT = 371

2.12 CT = 371

CT = 175

Therefore cost price of trouser is 175 rupees
