Step-by-step explanation:

Given The cost price of goods with a bankrupt is 25,500 and if the goods had realised in their full value, his creditors would have received 85 paise  in the rupee.  But 2/5 of the goods were sold at 17% and the  remainder at 22% below their cost price. How many  Paise in a rupee was received by the creditors ?

  • Given goods with bankrupt is 25,500
  • Total bankruptcy will be 25500 x 100 / 85 (85 ps in a rupee)
  •                                      = Rs 30,000
  • Now 100 – 22 = 78 and 100 – 17 = 83
  • So money received by selling the goods will be
  •    25500 (2/5 x 83/100 + 3/5 x 78 / 100) (since remainder 1 – 2/5 = 3/5)
  •     25,500 (166 / 500 + 234 / 500)
  •    25,500 (166 + 234 / 500)
  •           51 x 400
  •      Rs 20,400
  • Now money received by creditors for a rupee will be
  •    Rs 20,400 / 30,000
  • = 0.68 paise.
  • Therefore the creditor received 68 paise in a rupee.
