Every U.S. state has own state supreme court which is the highest authority stating that state's law and administering state's judiciary.

Two states i.e. Oklahoma and Texas each have 2 separate highest courts that hear criminal and civil appellate matters.

Civil law tells tend not to have a highest court.

Highest courts in some jurisdictions is not "Supreme Court" for example the High Court of Australia this is because decisions by High Court could initially be appealed to Privy Council.

On other hand in some places court named "Supreme Court" is not infact highest court for examples New York Supreme Court, Supreme Courts of several Canadian provinces/territories and former Supreme Court of England, Wales and Supreme Court of  of Northern Ireland which are junior to higher courts of appeal.
