The CPU is the brain of the computer which interprets and
executes program instructions. It controls all the functions of the
computer system. It has three parts.
The memory unit (i.e. primary memory) is the part of the CPU
where currently being used data and instructions are temporarily
stored.
Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU) is the part of CPU that performs
both arithmetic operation and logical operation on data.
The Control Unit is the part of CPU that decodes instructions
and executes the instructions by controlling and coordinating the
entire computer system.
The output unit/device displays the results of processing and
other information from the computer to the users in the human
understandable language. Monitor, printer, speaker and plotter
are output devices.
The secondary storage devices store data, information and
programs permanently. Hard disk, optical disk, pen drive, flash
card, etc. are secondary storage devices.
