question is ------> The cross-section ABCD of a swimming pool is a trapezium. Its width AB=14 meters, depth at the shallow end is 1.5 meters and at the deep end is 8 meter. Find the area of the cross-section ?

shape of the cross section ABCD of swimming pool is like as trapezium in which AB = 14m
depth at the shallow end is 1.5m and the deep end is 8m .

see figure, AB = 14m , BC = 8m and AD = 1.5m

so, area of ABCD = 1/2 × (BC + AD) × AB

= 1/2 × (8 + 1.5) × 14 m²

= 9.5 × 7 m²

= 66.5 m²
