The area of the cross section is  64 cm² and the volume is 38400 cm³.

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of rectangle = 6.5 x 8 = 52 cm²

Triangle 5, 5 & 8

S = (5 + 5 + 8)/2 = 9

Area = √9(9 - 5)(9 - 5)(9 - 8)

= √9 x 4 x 4 x 1

= 12 cm²

Area = 52 + 12 = 64 cm²

6 m long piece of metal  = 600 cm

Volume of the piece of metal  =  600 x 64 = 38400 cm³

Total Surface Area  = 64 + 64  +  600(6.5 + 6.5 + 8 + 8 + 5 + 5)

= 128 + 600(39)

= 128 + 23400

= 23528 cm²
