The number of liters of discharge per second will be 302.4 lit/min.

Step-by-step explanation:

The cross-section of the pipe is 42 cm² and water is pouring out of the pipe at the rate of  1.2 meters/ second i.e. 120 cm/second.

Therefore, if the pipe remains full then the number of cm³ discharged per minute will be = (42 × 120) = 5040 cm³/sec.

Now, 1000 cm³ is equivalent to 1 liter of volume.

Therefore, the number of liters of discharge per minute will be \frac{5040}{1000} \times 60 = 302.4 liters/min. (Answer)
