area of trapezium= 1/2 * sum of parallel side * distance between parallel side.
area = 1/2 * 14*(1.5+8)=7*9.5=66.5

Answer:

62 sq.m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :The cross section of a swimming pool is a trapezium . The width AB= 14 m , depth at the shallow end is 1.5 m and the depth at the deep end is 8 meter

To Find:.Find the area of cross section

Solution:

Area of trapezium = \frac{1}{2} \times (\text{Sum of parallel sides}) \times height

Length of parallel sides = 14 m and 1.5 m

Height = 8 m

So, Area of trapezium = \frac{1}{2} \times (14+1.5) \times 8

     Area of trapezium = 62 m^2

Hence the area of cross section is 62 sq.m.
