area of trapezium= 1/2(b1+b2) altitude
112= (1/2)(12+16)* altitude
224= 28 *altitude
altitude= 8 m

Depth of pool = 8 m

Step-by-step explanation:

The cross section of a swimming pool is in the shape of a trapezium.

Area of Trapezium = (1/2) ( Sum of Parallel sides) * height

The swimming pool is 16m wide at the top and 12m wide at the bottom,

area of cross section is 112m square.

Here depth of pool = Height

=> (1/2) ( 16 + 12) * Height = 112

=> 28 * height = 224

=> height = 8 m

Depth of pool = 8 m
