The crystalline salts of alkaline earth metals contain more water of crystallisation than the corresponding alkali metal salts, why?

Aa they have more water molecules...

Reason:
As salts of alkaline earth metal ions is lower than the size of alkali metal... So lower the size of cation, higher is the Hydration Energy...
