The crystals of washing soda changed to white powder on exposure to air..why

This happens because washing soda consists of water of crystalisation. The colour of washong soda before exposure is due to presence of water.So when exposed to air, the water of crystallisation gets evaporated and so the colour,which is due to water also gets evaporated, and so whag is left is just a white powder.......
