volume of cube = a³ = 8cm³
a' = 2 cm
Volume of 8 such cube = 8*8 = 64cm³
now a³ = 64cm³
so new, a = 4cm
so total surface area of a cube formed by joining 8 small cube = 6a² = 6(4)² = 6*16
= 96cm²

Answer:

The total surface area of the larger cube is 96 centimeter square.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The cube has a volume of 8 cm³.  8 such cubes were joined to form a larger cube.

To find : The total surface area of this larger cube?

Solution :

Volume of the cube = 8 cm³

Larger cube is formed by joining 8 smaller cubes.

i.e. Volume of the larger cube =  8 times Volume of smaller cubes

V=8\times 8=64\ cm^3

We know, V=s^3

The side of the larger cube is

64=s^3

s=\sqrt[n]{64}

s=4

Total surface area of the larger cube is given by,

TSA=6\times s^2

TSA=6\times 4^2

TSA=6\times 16

TSA=96\ cm^2

Therefore, The total surface area of the larger cube is 96 centimeter square.
