The current anti-poverty strategy of the government is based on two planks- (a) Promotion of economic growth. (b) Targeted anti-poverty programmes. How are these two related to each other?
Answers
It is true that the current anti poverty strategy of government is based on promotion of economic growth and targeted anti poverty programs as both are the cause and effect of each other.
Anti poverty programs like subsidy to farmers, interest subvention scheme, free LPG gas connection, free electricity connection, low cost housing help people move out of poverty as it gives them opportunity to take advantage and make use of these benefits, with these facilities, people on focus on earning money and this could improve their financial condition, and hence would lead to the economic growth of the country.
There exists a certain relationship between the promotion of economic growth and the anti poverty campaign.
This relation between the two is not direct.
Often the economic growth of a region has a positive effect on the anti poverty campaigns but few other times it can also lead to a negative effect on it.
So, these two aspects of the strategy are dependent on each other.
