this is due to magnetic effect of electric current. a current produces a magnetic field.

First , to understand how a magnetic dipole in a current loop works , you should understand how magnetic field is generated for a straight current carrying conductor .

What we are expecting to find here is where the two poles are for a magnetic field generated by a straight current carrying conductor .
