The phenomena used is electromagnetic induction.


Fleming's right hand rule is used to know the direction of the current.


In Fleming's right hand rule, the thumb gives the direction of the motion applied on the current carrying coductor, index finger gives the direction of the magnetic field therefore the middle finger will show the direction of the Current induced.
