Given :

CSA of a cylinder = 4400 cm²

Circumference of base of cylinder = 110 cm

To find :

Height and volume of cylinder.

Solution :

Formulas to be used :

CSA of cylinder = 2πrh

Circumference of base of cylinder = 2πr

Volume of cylinder = πr²h

Therefore,

⇒ 2πrh = 4400

h = 4400/2πr

⇒ h = 4400/110 [∵ 2πh = 110 cm]

h = 40 cm

Now,

⇒ 2πr = 110

⇒ r = 110/2π

⇒ r = 110/(2 × 22/7)

⇒ r = 110 × (7/44)

r = 35/2 cm

Therefore,

⇒ Volume of cylinder = πr²h

⇒ Volume of cylinder = 22/7 × (35/2)² × 40

⇒ Volume of cylinder = (22/7) × (1225/4) × 40

⇒ Volume of cylinder = 22/7 × 12250

⇒ Volume of cylinder = 269500/7

Volume of cylinder = 38,500 cm³

Height of cylinder is 40 cm and volume of cylinder is 38,500 cm³.
