GIVEN:

  • Curved surface area of cylinder = 88 cm²
  • Height of the cylinder = 14 cm

TO FIND:

  • What is the diameter of the cylinder ?

SOLUTION:

Let the radius of the cylinder be 'r' cm

To find the CSA of Cylinder, we use the formula:-

⠀⠀⠀ C.S.A. = 2πrh

According to question:

On putting the given values in the formula, we get

88 = 2 \times \sf{\dfrac{22}{7}} \times r \times 14

88 = 2 \times 22 \times r \times 2

88 = 88r

\sf{\cancel\dfrac{88}{88}} = r

1 cm = r

DIAMETER = 2R

◉ Diameter = 2 \times 1

DIAMETER = 2 cm

Hence, the diameter of the base of the cylinder is 2 cm

Given ,

The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder of height 14 cm is 88 cm²

We know that , the curved surface area of cylinder is given by

CSA = 2πrh

Thus ,

88 = 2 × 22/7 × r × 14

88 = 44 × 2 × e

2 = 2 × r

r = 2/2

r = 1 cm

Therefore ,

The radius of base of cylinder is 1 cm

Since , Diameter = 2 × radius

Thus ,

Diameter = 2 × 1

Diameter = 2 cm

 \sf \therefore \underline{The \:  diameter  \: of  \: base  \: of  \: cylinder \:  is \:  2 \:  cm}
