Curved surface area of cylinder = 88 cm²

diameter = 2r

 \\  \implies \sf \:  \frac{22}{7}  \times x \times 14 = 88 \:  \: cm \\  \\  \\  \implies \sf \: x \: 44 = 88 \\  \\  \\  \implies \sf \:  \frac{88}{44}  = 2 \\  \\  \\  \implies \sf \: x = 2 \:  \: cm \\  \\

Therefore, the diameter of cylinder is 2 cm.
