Height (h) of cylinder = 14cm

Let the diameter of cylinder be d.

Curved Surface Area of Cylinder = 88cm square

2πrh = 88 cm square

π dh = 88 cm square. (d = 2r)

22/7 × d × 14 = 88 cm

d = 2 cm

Therefore,the diameter of the base of the cylinder is 2 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder of height 14 cm is 88 sq.cm.

To find:-

Find the diameter of the base of the cylinder.

Solution:-

Let the radius of the given right circular cylinder be "r" cm

Height of the right circular cylinder = 14 cm

We know that

"The Curved Surface Area of a right circular cylinder = 2πrh sq.units"

=> 2×(22/7)×r×14 sq.cm

=>(2×22×r×14)/7 sq.cm

=>2×22×2×r sq.cm

=>88r sq.cm

According to the given problem

Curved Surface Area of the given cylinder is

88 sq.cm

=>88r = 88

=>r = 88/88

=>r = 1 cm

Radius of the right circular cylinder = 1 cm

We know that

Diameter = 2× Radius

=>Diameter = 2× 1 cm

Diameter = 2 cm

Answer:-

Diameter of the base of the right circular cylinder is 2 cm

Used formulae:-

  • The Curved Surface Area of a right circular cylinder = 2πrh sq.units
  • Where, r = Radius of the cylinder
  • h = Height of the cylinder
  • π=22/7
  • Diameter = 2×radius
