This is my opinion.As several people have stated, the sun is one of the principal sources of energy on earth. But there are others as well. The energy we receive from the sun is mainly thermal energy (infrared radiation) and light which is radiation in the visible light band.

The earth’s rotational dynamics are responsible for tidal forces that are caused by the moon orbiting the earth and one could argue that those are important as well.

The earth’s rotation and the rotation (spin) inherent in particles of matter seem to be responsible for gravity, also that being an important source of energy, think of hydroelectric power for instance.
