Answer:

The mean or average no. of patients attending the hospital in a day is 29.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The data on the no. of patients attending a hospital in a month are given below.

To find : The average no. of patients attending the hospital in a day?

Solution :

Class      -     0-10     10-20      20-30      30-40      40-50      50-60

x_i- 5          15            25            35             45            55

f_i-  2          6              9              7               4               2

f_ix_i-10         90           225         245           180          110

The mean of the data is the summation of all the f_ix_i divided by numbers of frequency.

Mean=\frac{\sum f_ix_i}{\sum f_i}

Mean=\frac{10+90+225+245+180+110}{2+6+9+7+4+2}

Mean=\frac{860}{30}

Mean=28.6

Therefore, The mean or average no. of patients attending the hospital in a day is 29.
