My teacher slapped me hard in a class full of 40+ students. Being a topper all my life and never being even moderately scolded before, this was a huge insult to me.
How could she slap me? ME? How can I even face my classmates anymore? They will all make fun of me now. My “topper” reputation and special privileges, are all gone.
I hung my head down in shame, walked silently back to my bench and cried. I was unusually silent all the day and suffered sharp headache all night.
After 3 months, I scored a perfect 100 in my Math finals.
10th grade
“If you continue to chicken out like this, you will grow up to be worthless”.
My dad said that on the spur of the moment after he was fed up with me breaking down randomly, unable to take the pressure of board exams.
I was shocked and I cried. Those words rang in my brain all night. For a brief moment, I worried if it would come true. Again, silence and headaches.
6 months later, My dad saw his name following my name quoted as “Topper of the town in 10th grade board exams”, on a local TV channel scrolling.
