Given fractional number is 49/40

multiply numerator and denominator with 25,

= \frac{49}{40}\times\frac{25}{25}

= \frac{49\times25}{40\times25}

=\frac{1225}{1000}

now , you can divide 1225 by 1000.

e.g., 1.225 , what we see number is terminated after three places of decimal.
