The deepest part of the ocean in the world is the Mariana trench in
the pacific ocean. It is 11000 m deep. How long will it Take for sound
transmitted by a ship, from the surface of water above the trench to be
reflected ?(speed of sound in sea water =1500m/s)

Answer:

Speed of sound in water(v) = 1400m/s

Distance(d) = 11000m

time(t)= ?

t=2d÷v

=22000÷1400

=220÷14

=15.714s

thus,

it will take 15.714 seconds

Answer:

T=D/S

So, 11000/1500

=22/3 or 7.333 seconds to strike the trench-bed and 7.333 seconds to reflect back. Therefore in total it would take 14.666 seconds for the sound to be reflected back.

bro, your question is also related to sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging), where they send an ultrasonic wave of sound to know the distance of sea-bed. 1450(speed of sound in sea water)*x (recorded time of reflection)/2. 8th class physics...
