Jute. This is the major crop produced in the Ganga delta region.  The triangular shaped delta is spread over 105,000 km2. The major portion of the Gange delta is in Bangladesh and Inda.

The delta is rich in alluvial soils and comprises of small particles or sediments which settles down in the delta as the river current slows down in this estuary.

These fine particles are carried with the river.
