Here are some of the disadvantages of farming on river deltas:

1) Deltas are located on the low lying plains. This may lead to constant flooding on the farm which results to crops doing poorly and consequently poor yields.

2) Since the deltas are found at the dying stages of the river, most of the river pollutants will accumulate in this slow draining regions. This leads to excessively contaminated crops.

3)  River courses at the old stages of a river, like where deltas are located, are prone to shift in courses. This may lead to a farm being submerged under water.

4) Lands on deltas or around them, might be subject to being hit by ocean waves due to the closeness of the deltas to oceans.
