The denominator of a fraction exceeds it's numerator by 7. If two is added to the numerator and 3 is subtracted from the denominator the fraction become 3/5. Find the original fraction.​

Let the numerator be x and the denominator be x+7.

$\frac{x+2}{x+7-3} = \frac{3}{5}$

$\frac{x+2}{x+4} =\frac{3}{5}$

$5(x+2) = 3(x+4)$

$5x+10 = 3x+12\\5x-3x = 12-10\\2x = 2\\x = 1$

Numerator = 1

Denominator = 8

$\underline{Fraction = \frac{1}{8}}$
