The denominator of a fraction exceeds the numerator by 5. If the numerator is increased by 9 then the fraction is increased by 1 .find the fraction.​

let x/y be fraction

x/(y-x) =5 (1)

(x+9) /y=1 (2)

from first equation x=5y-5x

x+5x=5y

6x=5y

x=5y/6 (3)

from 2nd equation

x+9=y

put value of x =5y/6

(5y/6)+9 =y

(5y+54) /6=y

5y+54=6y

6y-5y = 54

y=54

x=5y/6 from 3rd equation

x=(5×54) /6

x=5×9

x=45

so fraction is 45/54
