Given:

  • Denominator of fraction is 2 more than the numerator.
  • If 1 is added to both the resulting fraction is 4/5.

To find:

The fraction

Solution:

Let the numerator of the fraction be x.

Then, Denominator=x+2

Therefore, the fraction

 =  >  \frac{x}{x + 2}

A/Q

 \frac{x + 1}{x + 2 + 1}  =  \frac{4}{5}

 =  >   \frac{ x + 1}{x + 3}  =  \frac{4}{5}

Now, cross multiply

 =  > 5(x + 1) = 4(x + 3)

 =  > 5x + 5 = 4x + 12

 =  > 5x - 4x = 12 - 5

 =  > x = 7

Numerator=x=7

Then, denominator =x+2=7+2=9

Therefore, the fraction is

 =  >  \frac{7}{9}
