Answer :-

 \dfrac{4}{7}

Given :-

d = 3 + n

 \dfrac{d-1}{n-1}= \dfrac{1}{2}

To find :-

The value of original fraction.

Solution:-

Let the numerator be n and denominator be d.

 d = 3 + n ----1)

 \dfrac{n-1}{d-1}= \dfrac{1}{2}

 2 (n-1) = d -1

 2n -2 = d -1

 2n - d = -1 +2

 2n - d = 1 ----2)

  • Put the value of d in eq.2

 2n - (3+n) = 1

 2n - 3 -n = 1

 n = 1 + 3

 n = 4

  • Put the value of n in eq.1

 d = 3 + n

 d = 3 + 4

 d = 7

hence,

The required original fraction is  \dfrac{4}{7}
