The denominator of a fraction is 3 more than the numerator .if 5 is added to both the parts the resulting fraction is equivalent to 4/5 find the fraction

solution:-

let the numerator be x

so the denominator will be x+3

now according to questions 5 is added to both part ,we get

 \frac{x + 5}{x + 3 + 5}

and both the part the resulting fraction is =4/5 now we can write:-

 \frac{x + 5}{x + 3 + 5}  =  \frac{4}{5}

by solving the equation

 \frac{x + 5}{x + 8}  =  \frac{4}{5}

now use cross multiplication

5(x+5)=4(x+8)

5x+25=4x+32

5x-4x=32-25

x=7

now numerator is 7

and denominator is 3+7=10

fraction =7/10
