let the numerator be n , then the denominator = 3n
then equation = n/3n
given n+2/3n = 1
by using cross multiplication
n+2 = 3n
n - 3n = -2
-2n = -2
2n = 2
n = 2/2
= 1
therefore the original number = 1/3
