The denominator of a fraction is 4 more than its numerator

so

let numberator be x

then denomintor is x +4

now,

on subtracting 1 from each the number and the denominator.the fraction become 1/2

lets form an equation

x  - 1/ (x + 4)  -1 = 1/2

x  - 1/ x + 3 = 1/2

lets cross multiply

2(x - 1) = 1(x + 3)

2x - 2 = x +3

2x - x = 2 +3

x = 5

now denominator is x +4

= 5+4 = 9

so fraction is 5/9

Let numerator = x
Denominator = x + 4

fraction =  \frac{x}{x + 4}

×××××××××××××××××××

When 1 is subtracted from both, fraction becomes 1/2

So,

 \frac{x - 1}{x + 4 - 1}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\  \frac{x - 1}{ x+ 3}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\  \\ 2(x -1) = x + 3 \\  \\ 2x - 2 = x + 3 \\  \\ 2x - x = 3 + 2 \\  \\ x  = 5 \\  \\  \\  \\ fraction \:  =  \frac{x}{x + 4}  =  \frac{5}{5 + 4}  =  \frac{5}{9}

Original fraction =5/9

I hope this will help you
