Given :

⬤ Denominator of fraction 5 more than the Numerator .

⬤ Increasing the Numerator and Denominator by 3 we get the Fraction 1/2 .

To Find :

⬤ The Fraction .

Solution :

Let :

  • Numerator be = x .
  • Denominator be = x + 5 .

Increasing the Numerator and Denominator by 3 . Hence ,

  • Numerator = x + 3
  • Denominator = x + 5 + 3

Now :

\sf{\dfrac{x+3}{x+8}=\dfrac{1}{2}}

2(x + 3) = 1(x + 8)

2x + 6 = x + 8

2x - x = 8 - 6

x = 2

Therefore , The Value of x is 2 .

Hence ,

Numerator = x

= 2

Denominator = x + 5

= 2 + 5

= 7

Therefore , The Numerator is 2 and the Denominator is 7 .
