Let the numerator of the fraction =x

Then denominator=12+x

So, fraction will be

12+x

x

New fraction:

numerator =x-2

denominator=12+x+7

=19+x

So, fraction will be

19+x

x−2

19+x

x−2

=

2

1

2(x−2)=19+x

2x−x=19+4

x=23

So, old fraction is

12+23

23

=

35

23

and new fraction is,

19+23

23−2

=

42

21

=
