Step-by-step explanation answer:

The fraction is x/(x+5). Now

(x-2)/(x+5–2) = 1/6

6x-12 = x+3

5x = 15

x = 3

The fraction is 3/8.

Check:

(3–2)/(8–2) = 1/6. Correct.
